Refund & Cancellation Policy

At Drivetime Dhiraj School of Motoring (Est. 1987), we pride ourselves on providing reliable, 1:1 professional driving tuition across Hounslow, Maidenhead, and West London. To maintain our high standards and ensure instructor availability for all students, we operate a fair but firm refund and cancellation policy.

Lesson Cancellations & 48-Hour Notice

To avoid being charged for a scheduled session, a minimum of 48 hours' notice is required for all lesson cancellations. This allows our instructors sufficient time to reallocate the slot to other students on our waiting list.

Late Cancellations: Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged at the full lesson rate.
Instructor Terms: Please note that individual instructors may provide supplemental terms and conditions specific to your local area.

No Show/ No Payment

No Payment: If paying cash, no payment on the day is unacceptable and will be charged at the full lesson rate.
No Shows: If there is a no show, the lesson will be charged at the full lesson rate

Refunds for unused hours in 10-hour or 40-hour blocks are calculated based on the lessons already taken. Any lessons completed will be charged at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be processed according to your original payment method.

How to prepare for your first lesson?

Preparation is the first step toward a first-time pass. At Drivetime Dhiraj School of Motoring (Est. 1987), we’ve helped thousands of students in Hounslow, Maidenhead, and across West London start their journey with confidence. Whether you are learning in a Manual or Automatic car, here is how to get ready for your introductory session:

1. Bring Your Provisional License
This is a legal requirement. Your instructor must check your photocard license before you can get behind the wheel. Please have this ready at the start of your first 1:1 session.

2. Check Your Vision
You must be able to read a standard UK number plate from a distance of 20 metres. If you require glasses or contact lenses for distance, please ensure you are wearing them.

3. Wear Suitable Footwear
For the best "pedal feel" and safety, we recommend flat shoes with thin soles (like trainers). Avoid heavy boots, high heels, or flip-flops, as these can make clutch control and braking more difficult for beginners.

4. Be Rested and Ready
Driving requires 100% concentration. Ensure you are well-hydrated and have had a good night’s sleep. Our instructors provide a calm, patient environment, especially for nervous novices in the Heston, Osterley, and Cranford areas.

5. Review the Highway Code
While not mandatory for your first lesson, having a basic understanding of road signs will give you a head start. At Drivetime, we integrate Theory and Practical learning simultaneously to help you progress faster toward your test at Isleworth or Slough.

Kindly note, we have a strictly no 'piggy backing policy'. Therefore, anyone other than the learner on the day is not allowed in the car during the lesson. Any attempt to encourage the instructor to seat an additional passenger will result in the lesson being promptly discontinued and the lesson fee will still apply.

Can I book directly with the instructor?

Yes, once you've received your initial lesson with your instructor and you are happy to proceed please book directly via your instructor, he is your Drivetime representative.

All subsequent payments and bookings should be made with them and to them.

My test is in less than 6 weeks, can you take me?

Unfortunately, no. Our instructors are 'Grade A' Approved Driving Instructors, with an exceptional first time pass rate. We've helped thousands of students pass since 1987. Per the DVSA guidelines, we only accommodate test bookings if:

(1) Our instructors have advised you to book your test, and

(2) We have taken you for a mock tests and you have not received any serious faults.

Failure to disclose pre-booked test dates ahead or during your scheduled lesson will result in prompt discontinuation of lessons

Failure to heed the instructors guidance will also lead to refusal

Syllabus completion is a minimum prerequisite to gain authorisation from our instructors to take a vehicle to the test. If you are unable to put in the hours needed to achieve test standard, we advise you push the test date back, and learn gradually over the coming weeks rather than cramming practical application within a short window.

Note: Safety comes first. Driving without the appropriate skill not only puts your life in danger but also the examiners and the general publics. Please do not pressurise our instructors, we have a zero tolerance policy to undue pressure.
