Driving Mock Test: Experience the Real Thing Before the Big Day
Stop Guessing. Start Knowing. Pass First Time.
Are you feeling nervous about your upcoming practical test? Or perhaps you’ve been learning with a friend or family member and want an expert, unbiased second opinion?
At Drivetime School of Motoring (Est. 1987), our Realistic Mock Test is designed to replicate the exact conditions, pressure, and marking criteria of the DVSA practical exam. We use the actual test routes for Isleworth (Fleming Way), Slough (Bath Road), and Southall/Greenford to ensure there are no surprises on your test day.
What’s Included in Your 2-Hour Mock Session?
-
The Formal Assessment (40 Mins): Your instructor will adopt the role of a "Silent Examiner." You will follow sat-nav or road sign directions, perform one maneuver, and complete the "Show Me, Tell Me" safety questions exactly as you would in the real test.
-
The Marking Sheet: We use a professional assessment form to track your driving—identifying any Dangerous, Serious, or Minor faults.
-
The Feedback Loop (60 Mins): This is where the magic happens. We spend the second half of the session driving back through any "problem spots," fixing the faults identified, and sharpening your technique so you don't repeat the same mistakes.
-
The "Trap Junction" Tour: We’ll specifically visit local hotspots like the A4 Great West Road spiral roundabouts or the Slough Trading Estate merges to ensure you’re prepared for the hardest parts of the route.
Why Book a Mock Test with Drivetime?
-
40 Years of Insight: We have seen the test change significantly since 1987. We know exactly what 2026 examiners are looking for in terms of "Eco-Driving" and "Hazard Anticipation."
-
Eliminate Nerves: Most students fail due to anxiety, not skill. Experiencing the "Exam Silence" beforehand significantly lowers heart rates on the actual day.
-
Identify "Blind Spots": Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes sees a habit your regular instructor might have missed.
-
Available for Manual & Automatic: We provide mock assessments for both transmissions across Hounslow, Hayes, Southall, Uxbridge, Feltham, and Twickenham.
Ready to see if you’re "Examiner-Ready"?
Don't leave your license to chance. Book a professional mock assessment and go into your test with the confidence of a winner.

How long does it take to learn?
The Road to a First-Time Pass in West London
At Drivetime School of Motoring (Est. 1987), one of the most common questions our Hounslow and Maidenhead instructors receive is: "How many lessons will I need before my test?"
While every student is unique, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) reports that the average learner requires approximately 45 hours of professional tuition combined with 22 hours of private practice. However, with Drivetime’s 40 years of expertise, our structured 1:1 coaching often helps students reach test-readiness more efficiently.
Factors That Influence Your Learning Timeline
- Manual vs. Automatic: Generally, students in Automatic cars reach test standard faster because they don't need to master clutch control or gear synchronisation. This is a popular choice for navigating the busy urban junctions of Hounslow and Ealing.
- Lesson Frequency: Consistency is key. Students taking 2-hour manual blocks once or twice a week often retain information better than those taking shorter, infrequent sessions.
- Previous Experience: Absolute beginners starting with our Introductory Lesson will follow a different roadmap than those seeking Refresher Lessons or moving from abroad to UK roads.
- Local Road Knowledge: Learning the specific "trap junctions" around the Isleworth Test Centre or the complex roundabouts near Slough takes time and dedicated professional guidance.
Why Choose Drivetime (Est. 1987)?

How do I prepare for my first lesson?
Preparation is the first step toward a first-time pass. At Drivetime School of Motoring (Est. 1987), we’ve helped thousands of students in Hounslow, Maidenhead, and across West London start their journey with confidence. Whether you are learning in a Manual or Automatic car, here is how to get ready for your introductory session:
1. Bring Your Provisional Licence
This is a legal requirement. Your instructor must check your photocard licence before you can get behind the wheel. Please have this ready at the start of your first 1:1 session.
2. Check Your Vision
You must be able to read a standard UK number plate from a distance of 20 metres. If you require glasses or contact lenses for distance, please ensure you are wearing them.
3. Wear Suitable Footwear
For the best "pedal feel" and safety, we recommend flat shoes with thin soles (like trainers). Avoid heavy boots, high heels, or flip-flops, as these can make clutch control and braking more difficult for beginners.
4. Be Rested and Ready
Driving requires 100% concentration. Ensure you are well-hydrated and have had a good night’s sleep. Our instructors provide a calm, patient environment, especially for nervous novices in the Heston, Osterley, and Cranford areas.
5. Review the Highway Code
While not mandatory for your first lesson, having a basic understanding of road signs will give you a head start. At Drivetime, we integrate Theory and Practical learning simultaneously to help you progress faster toward your test at Isleworth or Slough.
